Wow, the holidays are finally over, the Christmas tree is down, the decorations are put away, and the house feels a little lonely now that the guests have left. I was feeling a little sad until I went to get the mail and there sitting in mailbox was my first garden catalog of the new year! That was an instant pick me up. I love getting these catalogs. I remember, a while agao, reading a comment someone made calling them his garden porn. I have to admit, I agree. I can spend hours just leafing through them imaging what each plant would look like in my garden. I love looking at the new hybrids the breeders develop and to see what’s in for the season.
All these pictures just jumpstart my desire to go play in the dirt. Unfortunately, it’s still winter here so my only soltuion is to start planning my garden on paper with catalog in hand and credit card ready to go. So let the catalogs find their way to my mailbox, I eagerly await them.
They should probably arrive in plain brown wrappers.

I make a huge long list of all the things I want to buy, fill in the order form and then put it away for a few days. The fever then dies down and you get a bit more sensible about what you’ve got room for and how much you want to spend. Has probably saved me a fortune and a load of wasted seed!!
Good idea! The temptation is great when you have been locked up in a house for the winter and you get these catalogs.
