Blank canvas

Being in the middle of winter, my mind has already started to anticipate warmer weather, longer days, and the fun of playing in dirt. I already know what the big project for the year will be…the garden beds. Last summer, I managed to add two new beds to the front of the deck. This year I will be tackling something a little larger.

I grabbed my trusty camera and invaded my husband’s office to get an aerial view of the backyard.

As you can see, it’s really a blank canvas, in full sun. Before I can start on the garden beds, we will need to do a little repair due to our doggie daughters excited romps through the backyard.

In addition to the garden beds and the repairs, we want to add a dig spot for the girls and hopefully the backyard will survive their enthusiasm.

In upcoming posts, I will be document what I am planning to do and how we went about doing it. Assuming the weather warms up, I would like to have some of the beds ready before spring, so that I can get the plants and veggies in the ground once the final frost has pasted.

  • Looking forward to hearing about what you’ll be planting. It looks like a great spot for a new garden

    • Thanks…I hope it comes out the way I see it in my head. :)

  • Wow! you indeed have a blank canvass :-) , not even any grass to remove. It would be really exciting to see how you transform the place. I will keep a lookout for that :-)

    • Believe it of not, there is grass and it was beautiful but with two 10 month old lab mutts, it didn’t stand a chance. I know that for the next few years, we will need to fence off the garden beds or they too will become a playground.
